  •  Sturdy Backpack - Needs to hold a lot but not be too stressful on your back. (Especially if you think you'll be walking a lot...)
  • Melee weapon in case of emergency (hatchet is considered the best)
  • Pistol - in case of emergency and emergency ONLY. You don't want to attract more attention than you need
  • Water Purification Kit - NOT TABLETS (Take up too much space and limit your use greatly)
  • Sturdy metal water bottle - make sure it doesn't spill!
  • Compact First Aid Kit - Compact as possible (like everything else), but have as much as possible, too.
  • Radio - Keep up with your community
  • Small solar power charger - Charge your iPod and stuff (You'll want music)
  • Rechargeable Batteries/Very long lasting batteries - For things that need batteries
  • Flashlight
  • Swedish Firesteel
  • Set of silverware - If you want to stay civilized (Optional)
  • Blankets/Sleeping Bag - You wont want to sleep on the ground...
  • Bicycle - More mobile and less noisy than cars
  • Nonperishable Food - Cans of spaghetti-O's!
  • Fishing Kit (if near water)
  • Toilet Paper - Or some subsitute
