  • slippers and light weight dressing gown
  • chunky socks, in case feet get cold in labour
  • lip balm. lips get dry on gas and air
  • flip flops for the shower
  • dry shampoo, hairbands
  • mini changing mat
  • Huggies Pure wipes
  • cotton wool balls for washing baby
  • 3 x vests in newborn 3 x vests in 0 - 3 months
  • 3 x babygrows in newborn 3 x babygrows in 0 -3 months (violet was too long for some newborn babygrows)
  • maternity notes
  • important numbers written down in case phones die
  • Phone charger
  • cartons of juice and pack of biscuits for mum and dad
  • going home clothes
  • spare pants and tshirt for dad
  • normal toiletries for dad
  • about £20 in cash for food and maybe spare cash for a cab in case you need to call one to get you to the hospital
  • maternity pads
  • towel for the shower
  • magazines or something to occupy if you have an epidural. if you don't there is no way you'll want to read a magazine when in labour
