3. Collection of Your Personal Information

Why Personal Information is Collected. Scribbless will always tell you before it collects any Personal Information and will inform you of the purpose of the collection. Some of the reasons for which Scribbless may collect your Personal Information include:

  • registration for an account with Scribbless
  • use of Scribbless services
  • requesting support for Scribbless services
  • providing feedback on the Scribbless site

Cookies. Like many websites, Scribbless uses technologies such as cookies (a data file written to a hard drive by some Web sites) and web beacons (a convenient way of gathering basic statistics and managing cookies). Scribbless uses these technologies in two ways: (1) To make sure that you are the owner of the list you are editing. For this purpose, cookies are necessary for the Scribbless website to function. Scribbless' server logs are kept privately on Scribbless' server for diagnostics/debugging of the webserver. We may also use the server log for Scribbless to anonymously track analytics and answer questions like "which page/feature is the most popular on Scribbless?"

We do not sell or rent your Personal Information to third parties for marketing purposes unless you have granted us permission to do so.

We may share your Personal Information within Scribbless for purposes of data processing or storage.

We may respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process by disclosing your Personal Information and other related information, if necessary. We also may choose to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.

We may share with third parties certain pieces of aggregated, non-Personal Information such as the number of users who searched for a particular term, for example, or how many users clicked on a particular advertisement. Such information does not identify you individually. Some advertisers may use user-supplied information, e.g. items on your list, to provide relevant advertisements to users.

8. Security of your personal information

We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. These include internal reviews of our data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures, as well as physical security measures to guard against unauthorized access to systems where we store personal data.

Scribbless qualifies for the alternative option; it has a comprehensive Privacy Policy and provides you with details on how you may either Opt-out or Opt-in to the use of your Personal Information by third parties for direct marketing purposes. Therefore, we are not required to maintain or disclose a list of the third parties that received your Personal Information for marketing purposes during the preceding year.
